Ladies, high heels are here! “Head Over Heels” is the first series fashion blog by Lana Asanin. So, dust off a pair of high heels and catwalk through the city streets. We don’t really need an excuse to wear them, but this is the season to show off that one pair of statement heels in your closet that you’ve been staring all along. Yes, they’re uncomfortable at first and take a while to get used to, but they pack a boost of confidence and sexiness that will make you stand tall on cloud nine.
I was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. My mother trained me to walk in my first pair at the age of sixteen. I was crowned Miss Montenegro beauty pageant at the age of seventeen while wearing that same pair. Shortly after, my modeling career jumpstarted. I had the opportunity of traveling for work to such exciting locations as Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Southeast Asia and the US. I have been featured in several magazines such as FHM, Maxim, People, Cosmopolitan and Avon. My first major television break was given to me in the exotic Philippines as a host for E! Entertainment. I became the star actress eventually at several television shows. It was followed by numerous TV commercials like Nescafe, LG Electronics, Sunkist and Shell.
Since moving to the US, I’ve made several television appearances on such shows as Entourage, The Mentalist, Deal or no Deal and VH1.
For the past few years, I have been working as a footwear model for various shoe companies including Fergie, Michael Kors, Stuart Weitzman, Esprit and JCPenney. As you can imagine, it could only fuel any woman’s addiction to shoes. This brings us to today’s topic, “Head over Heels” to be more specific — nothing but high heels galore!
Through time, I have collected over a couple hundred pairs of shoes and boots in a vast array of styles, colors and patterns. Yet, my Loubies and Jimmy Choos are my all-time favorite.
They emphasize the contour of the leg as well as the body’s natural curves. A chic and sexy pair of heels makes any woman turn a few heads while strolling through the avenue or at the office. Is it wrong to love the attention that they nab? No. After all, they boost our inner spirit and make us feel beautiful on the inside as much as we are on the outside.
Now, as a Fashionista, there is no need for a cocktail dress to wear high heels. In fact, wearing them with a pair of jeans is enough to transcend the message that you have a sense of style and a bit of spunk. If you don’t already own a pair, go on out there and shop until you drop for a pair or even two.
I know they can be a challenge to get used to, especially try dancing with them. But, the rewarding feeling inside you and the compliments that you would get makes it all worthwhile. For a bolder and daring look this season, wear a pair of bold platforms that are decorated with stripes or pops of metallic. They will surely make a statement.
As you build up your collection, make sure to always have a pair of sleek black, nude and vivid red heels in your closet. They are a must! To accentuate your high heels even more, accent it with a matching slim belt, a clutch bag and a beautiful scarf such as the ones by L.O.V. Project. These scarves are all handmade and organically dyed by physically disabled women in India. Take a look at L.O.V. Now, does anyone know of a lucky water fountain that I could toss a coin into, and wish for my shoe collection to magically grow? “Head Over Heels” will start you on that growth.
As a RCAT Media Fashion Blogger, I would be covering a variety of fashion topics and would love to hear your comments and feedback.
